Dato’ Dr Ahmad Kamarulnajuib Bin Che Ibrahim

Dato’ Dr Ahmad Kamarulnajuib Bin Che Ibrahim has been spending entire time of his career (36 years) with Department of Environment since 1983 until his last retirement in the Government Service in 2019. His last highest position in the Department of Environment from 2015 to 2019 was as Director General of Environment, Department of Environment Malaysia. He has contributed a lot the policy development of Department of Environment in Malaysia and regional and international levels. He is holding Phd in Environmental Technology (University Science Malaysia), Master in Pollution and Environmental Control (University of Manchester) and first degree course in Bachelor of Agricultural Engineering (University of Agriculture-now known as University Putra Malaysia).

He is one of the pioneer in establishing Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Procedure in Malaysia. He actively involved in developing EIA Order (legal instrument) and EIA Procedural Guidelines and the EIA Guidelines for specific projects development in Malaysia. Apart EIA, is an expert in Wastewater Engineering, Air Pollution Control Technologies and Hazardous Waste Management. He also has introduced the self-regulatory principles to all regulated communities in Malaysia to maintain full compliance with the Environmental Quality Act 1974. In empowering self-regulations culture among the regulated communities a special guidelines on“ Environmental Mainstreaming Tools” has been introduced through Guided Self-Regulations (GSR) with aim to speed up the process of environmental mainstreaming to the communities to achieve environmental self-regulations practices as a complement to the existing system of command and control.

Dato’ Dr Ahmad Kamarulnajuib is also keen sharing an environmental technical knowledge through providing training to the regulated communities.
